Will Local Readers Pay For Kansas City Biz Journal Lady Soccer Hype?!?

TKC repsects the biz decisions of every publication.

Amid local hard times for the industry . . . Some publications are going non-profit whilst others, like the Biz Journal, are hiding their constant behind paywalls that are getting increasingly tougher (but not impossible) to scale . . . Never mind that most readers can enjoy the offerings for free by way of the public library.

Nevertheless . . .

After a staffer debate against TKC . . . We notice the Biz Journal eschewing digital archiving in order to level up their paywall . . . Now, some organizations like the conservative Wall Street Journal or the progressive New York Times can make that work . . . Because they offer a bevy of content that people are willing to pay for . . .

However . . . A recent report by the Biz Journal and a look at most of their offerings seems to indicate that local content will have a harder time making that sale . . . Here's a passage as an example . . .

"A partnership between the Kansas City Current and a fertility clinic shows how women's teams are forging innovative sponsorship deals that go beyond traditional sports marketing."

The question . . .

WILL READERS PAY TO READ ABOUT THE BIZ MODEL OF LADY SOCCER?!?

At both ends it's an interesting question . . .

There's a desperate search for profit despite dearth of people willing to pony up for expenses.
