Voters Scold Jackson County Bloc Against Property Tax Roll Back

For many of locals, longstanding concern over courthouse property tax assessments are likely more important than this week's low turnout vote or constant protest against Prez Trump.

To wit . . .

INSIDERS & PLEBS LAMBAST JACKSON COUNTY EXEC & HIS VOTING BLOC THAT OPPOSED THIS WEEK'S RESOLUTION TO ROLL BACK PROPERTY TAXES!!!

An insider reached out to us this week and this money line is worth sharing . . .

"I don't know how anybody who voted against the resolution could ever think of running for reelection. It's as simple as that . . . They have the Missouri State Tax Commission AND a judge's ruling backing up the roll back . . . It just doesn't make any sense to keep challenging these decisions.

More importantly, voters and residents DESERVE a fair assessment. So far they haven't provided any thing back up their stubbornness . . . At this point it seems to be about a political grudge match rather than the Executives & his voting bloc looking out for the best interests of constituents."

With that we'll note that . . .

Legislators Jalen Anderson, Megan Marshall, Jeanie Lauer & Charlie Frankin voted against the resolution and we've already shared the Exec's statement which claims the Missouri State Tax commish decision was unlawful and seems to be planning an appeal.

The roundup . . . Another look at the debate this week and more reporting . . .

(This week's) meeting was heated and, at times, apprehensive as county leaders debated the measure and homeowners voiced their frustration over last year’s property tax increases.

Legislators in support of the ordinance said action is needed now to avoid more errors in future assessment notices.

“If we don't do it now, in a few weeks, we're going to be sending out assessment notices. And many of those assessment notices will be in in error,” said Jackson County Legislator Sean Smith.

Others, including Jackson County Legislator Megan Marshall, said while the ordinance is a good starting point, more collaboration is needed.

“It's a great start but i think there's an opportunity make it better where it has a lasting effect,” Marshall said.

She acknowledged the emotions running high in the community.
