Amid cowtown progressive immigration debate, Kansas City officials are working diligently to keep the local impact out of the new cycle.
Thankfully . . . KICK-ASS INSIDERS share the scoop with our blog community.
The basics . . .
HISTORIC DECLINES IN U.S. TOURISM NOW CONFRONT KANSAS CITY WORLD CUP 2026 LEADERS WITH VERY LITTLE POWER TO INFLUENCE MAGA POLICY!!!
Don't worry . . . It gets worse . . .
WITH HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS AT RISK; LATIN AMERICAN & EUROPEAN TOURISTS NOW AVOID U.S. TRAVEL!!! KC IS DEPENDENT ON THESE TWO GROUPS TO MAKE WORLD CUP 2026 WORTH IT?!?
One more . . .
IS ANY MEXICAN GONNA RISK GETTING LOCKED UP IN AN EL SALVADOR MEGA-JAIL JUST TO WATCH A FEW SOCCER GAMES?!?
The math is pretty simple on that equation but we wanted to give AWESOME TKC INSIDERS the first word before we get started???
Here's the quote . . .
"Listen, I don't care what your politics are but there is just no denying that international travel to the U.S. is taking a hit given the current immigration climate. The numbers speak for themselves and World Cup 2026 is next Summer so the midterm elections aren't going to change a thing.
"The KC Sports Commission should be honest with local business and state governments who have already given millions:
"The slump in U.S. tourism will DEFINITELY impact KC World Cup 2026 and we need to be honest about the implications rather than just hyping up the festivities.
"We were counting on thousands of tourists driving up from Mexico but, for better or worse, border crossings are WAY DOWN and the American Midwest can sometimes be 'problematic' for international travelers. Sure, they shouldn't have a problem with police if their paper work is in order but who wants to deal with that kind of threat on vacation??? I happen to agree with President Trump on his immigration policy but you'd have to be blind to not realize the threat to the KC World Cup and right now the KC Sports Commission doesn't even want to talk about it . . . They're putting their heads in the sand rather than being honest with our community."
Accordingly, we offer numbers as this Spring/Summer tourism season will offer some indication of how MAGA policy will impact local merchants . . .
"In March, the number of arrivals of non-US citizens by plane dipped by 10% compared to the same period last year, according to the International Trade Administration (ITA). This risks a $20 (£15) billion loss in retail spending from international tourists, Bloomberg Intelligence analysis found. The worst-case scenario is a $90 (£67) billion loss to the US economy, which accounts for boycotts and reduced travel, Goldman Sachs said."
