Retail remains pretty bleak throughout the metro . . . And now, crime seems to be spiking as the nation slides into recession.

"According to the Kansas City Police Department, at about 10:10 p.m., officers were called to a Northland neighborhood near Northwest 82nd Court and North Marston Avenue -- about one block south of Northwest Barry Road, behind Savers and Joann Fabric and Crafts -- on reports of a shooting."
