Kansas City Mayor Q Renews Pledge To Fight Rampant Local Potholes

A Springtime tradition from 12th & Oak . . . Even better, many locals might notice repaving projects coming up . . . Here's the latest presser on the topic from city hall:

Kansas City is hitting the ground running this spring as crews launch another season of street resurfacing work. Building on more than 1,500 lane miles resurfaced since 2021, the City aims to improve 400 lane miles in the coming year.

This effort will continue Kansas City's long-term investment in safer, smoother streets, from well-traveled corridors like Ward Parkway and The Paseo to neighborhood streets across all six Council districts.

"Potholes are not acts of God, but instead the result of poor infrastructure and planning," said Mayor Quinton Lucas. "The best way to fix our roads isn't just filling potholes; it's strategically resurfacing failing roadways where residents need it most. With a goal to resurface 400 lane miles of Kansas City's roads like Broadway through our city's core, we continue to exceed past results and are creating a city where infrastructure serves everyone equally and reliably."
