We'll try to keep an open mind and hope this "touchy feel-y" endeavor persuades local thugs to put their guns away.
Here's the basic idea . . .
The mayor's office, the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office and the Kansas City Police Department have created a collective group called Kansas City United for Public Safety, or KCUPS.
This group stated Tuesday it has three phases for crime reduction: intervention, prevention and addressing root causes.
Intervention begins, Parks-Shaw said, in the elementary schools and in homes with addressing basic needs of families, as well as helping with generational trauma.
She mentioned there are more than 400 public school children waiting on a business or adult mentor to help show them a path to college, a career and life skills.
