Here's the damage and another clue that the local property crime crisis is unlikely to get any better during a recession.

“It had to be many people that would stop, get out of their car in the middle of our street, and a very busy street, as well, and take an almost 600-pound lion from, very much, the front of our house," Owner Julie Towner said.

The homeowner said thieves stole one of their lion statues -- leaving its friend behind.

“He's missing his little pal,” Towner said.

She believes it happened sometime overnight on Monday into Tuesday, outside their home near Gillham Road and Locust Street.
