It's tough for low-info, low turnout voters to distinguish one protest effort from the next. 

In reality . . .

Neighborhood leaders and the vast majority of local elected officials know that KCMO needs a new jail AND cash to bolster law enforcement amid rising crime. However, savvy protesters have seized upon the fight against Prez Trump and connected it to their struggle in order to garner support for their agenda that's a radical departure from most mainstream public safety policy.

In fairness, local activists were out in force today pushing their message . . . Check-it:

"Decarcerate KC led a coalition of Kansas City, Missouri, organizations Sunday morning, just two days before residents are set to vote on a public safety sales tax that would fund a new city jail.

"Rally-goers stood in opposition of the public safety sales tax, asking Kansas Citians to vote no on Question 1 of the April 8 ballot."
