Quick update and, I guess, a bit of insight about the politics of grassroots of grassroots movements.
The basics . . .
KCATA REMOVES BENCHES BUT ACTIVISTS OFFER THEIR OWN SOLUTIONS!!!
In order to literally garner a bit of street cred . . . Check this helpful flex as local protest leaders put benches back on public streets . . .
The punchline . . . If they didn't bolt these suckers down . . . They've already been stolen & resold a few times.
Still . . . We appreciate the quick municipal flex:
"Bus stop amenities like benches are basic resources that, when removed, represent an attack on the dignity and physical wellbeing of bus riders.
"Showing up for each other means recognizing no one should be forced to stand and wait for 20 minutes for a bus, let alone the hour+ many riders are forced to endure.
"We’re all we’ve got and we will continue showing up for each other no matter the actions taken by those in power."
