Jackson County Exec Vetoes Rollback Ordinance For Property Taxes

Opposition claims there are already enough signatures to force a recall despite a funding issue. 

The Legislature remains divided BUT with a 5/4 split that mostly opposes the Exec.

However . . .

With respect to his consistency on the issues and knowing that he did garner a lot of support against stadium funding . . . There's NO WAY Frank White is ever elected to another public office after opposing a property tax rollback.

Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. vetoed a county ordinance that directed him to comply with a State Tax Commission (STC) order to roll back and cap some of the 2023 assessments. The order came following allegations that the notification and inspection procedure for more than half of residential properties did not follow state law.

White called the order “contested, unprecedented and unenforceable.” The county administration took the STC to court over the lawfulness of its order. A judge sided with the STC. The county has not yet filed an appeal.
