Apropos for #TBT we keep up with an old Kansas City political boss who remains quite active in politics and the courtroom.
First a bit of background . . .
We buried this story in a compilation yesterday because it doesn't really mean much to us: Developer and lawyers owe big bucks after yet another downtown real estate FAIL. Jesus wept. Who cares?
However . . . With special thanks to KICK-ASS INSIDERS . . . This is where we get our giggles:
MAYOR SLY'S "EXPERT TESTIMONY" DIDN'T HELP DEFENDANTS DESPITE AN ALL-STAR CAST OF LOCAL POWER PLAYERS!!!
Here's the word . . .
"It seems like they wanted to play up the former Mayor's credibility, experience and authority. Sadly, that didn't work too well for them."
And so . . .
It seems like the cowtown super-rich will be a little bit less super-richer.
The more important point is that downtown Kansas City is where development schemes go to die and PER USHE . . . Only lawyers end up walking away with the big bucks.
We also wanted to share a write-up with all the boring deets that aren't as nearly as juicy as so many Kansas City sharks laughing at the misfortune of their rivals whilst more and more plebs aren't so broken up about the inevitable end of capitalism at the outset of yet another "historic" recession.
More #TBT context . . .
Capitalism actually died when Nixon took the world off the gold standard and everything since then has mostly been a house of cards confidence game that only gets serious when some kind of horrific military action is required to keep people from laughing too hard at the ponzi scheme.
Now back to our local programming . . . Check-it . . .
"A Jackson County jury awarded the Colorado developers $18 million against a local attorney and a St. Louis-based firm over the project’s construction loan.
"The jury found that James Neeld and the firm Sandberg Phoenix (where Neeld is an attorney and shareholder) made fraudulent misrepresentations to the Colorado developers, a group that included Pedersen Development Co. and Shanahan Development Co., about the lending capabilities of a third-party lender. That lender, Altos Group, filed for bankruptcy in 2023, leaving behind a trail of unfunded projects across the country."
