Wednesday has been designated a First Alert Weather Alert Day, with a Blizzard Warning taking effect overnight into early Wednesday morning and a High Wind Warning starting this evening, lasting through Wednesday afternoon.
Rain will transition to snow from west to east between 9 and 10 p.m., bringing blizzard conditions through 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
During this time, northwest winds of 30–40 mph, with occasional gusts up to 70 mph, will cause significantly reduced visibility, power outages, tree damage, and travel issues.
Snowfall will range from 1–2 inches across the Kansas City metro to up to 3 inches in far northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri.
