
Again . . . Here's our TKC takeaway . . .
Local Democratic Party leaders getting involved is a mistake and turns the issue into a partisan hot mess. Instead, we hoped that supporters of the tax would expend just a little more effort and put the funding request RIGHT BACK ON THE BALLOT with better language and a great deal of proven enthusiasm that would dispute the decision of the commish.
Sadly . . .
We can only trust our Missouri Democrat leaders to complicate the matter with legislation that's even worse than the initial dispute . . . Take a look:
"Democratic House Minority Leader Ashley Aune, a Kansas City and Platte County resident, has filed a bill that she says would close a loophole the county commission used to avoid implementing the quarter cent sales tax. It was aimed at helping children with their mental health in the county.
"56 percent of the voters in the county supported the tax in November of 2024. The commission ended up not implementing the tax."
