Should Kansas City Trust Security Pledge From Country Club Plaza?!?

Public safety on the Country Club Plaza has been a constant concern of Kansas City residents since the inception of this blog.

Again, for #TBT let's NEVER FORGET that during the BLM riots of 2020, Kansas City's Mayor Quinton Lucas joined a mob of "mostly peaceful" protesters and shouted "No Justice, No Peace" in the direction of law enforcement which preceded about two weeks of violence, looting and arson inside this historic entertainment district. Since that time more than 40 stores have shut down, there was a major loan default and now ownership has changed hands.

And we're not just dwelling in the past here . . . This prologue begs the question . . .

WILL MAYOR Q & ACTIVISTS PROTECT THE PLAZA AMID ANOTHER SEASON OF PROTEST AGAINST PREZ TRUMP?!?

Already we've seen weekly demonstrations in and around Plaza parks along with a few street takeovers.

More to the point . . .

WILL PROMISES OF MORE PLAZA SECURITY HOLD UP AMID MAGA-ERA FINANCIAL HARSH TIMES?!?

Consider . . .

Sorry to our conservative friends but this time around Prez Trump isn't bringing much financial prosperity to the vast majority of Americans on the low-end of the food chain. More layoffs and trade war threats haven't immediately sparked a revival of the working-class . . . We hope that some of these changes might result in turnaround soon . . . BUT . . . There's no point in denying economic reality right now as the prospect of recession seems more likely . . . Along with the risk of worsening desperation & crime.

Of course . . .

We share a more optimistic view for sh*ts & giggles . . . And further edification . . .

A new local security firm is joining the Plaza team. Metro Public Safety will start May 12, meaning shoppers will see even more officers who are armed and able to detain.

"We’ve seen some of the crime data we track fall," Keller said. "We have more to do, but I do think the crime is going in the right direction, or at least the enforcement is going in the right direction."

Residents at the meeting said they were thrilled just to hear from the Plaza team.
