KCPD Confronts Chokehold Crisis After Prospect Sunfresh Arrest?!?

The incident occurred yesterday, March 12, at Sun Fresh on 31st and Prospect. Today, many are calling this an example of excessive force by the officer, but KCPD says the video doesn’t tell the full story.

Police say the man arrested came into the store with a gun and was told he could not have the firearm in the store. In the video from a second encounter, however, the man can be heard saying he left the gun in the car.

Police say the man was asked to leave and refused, leading to the officer putting him in a chokehold.
