KCMO Council Bloc Secures Kimiko Gilmore As Acting City Manager Indefinitely

It seems that there's some confusion about the future of the city manager's office and how an upcoming Kansas City "nationwide" job search will be conducted. 

As always, TKC lives to serve our readership and the not so great people of Kansas City; so we'd like to clarify the situation in the aftermath of the firing of Brian Platt . . .

KIMIKO GILMORE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS & EAST SIDE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL VOTE DOWN ANY ATTEMPT TO REPLACE HER!!!

 In fact . . . We can look into the future even a bit further . . .

Kimiko Gilmore is gonna stick around . . . She'll easily serve out the remainder of Mayor Q's term and, even better, her tenure will demand that loyal East side voters rally to her defense in order to elect either Council Lady Melissa Patterson Hazley OR Council Lady Ryana Parks-Shaw as Mayor. 

Again . . . 

Naive souls might ask . . . TKC, doesn't council want to find the best candidate for the job after an extensive nationwide search for qualified applicants rather than a local, politically connected power player???

That would be nice but . . .

NOPE, AGAIN, EAST SIDE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL SHUT DOWN & DELAY ANY MOVE TO REPLACE KIMIKO GILMORE!!! EXPECT HER TO REMAIN THE ACTING CITY MANAGER FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS!!!

Sorry for the slight repeat but we really wanted to drive the point home for those who might not understand.

Caveat . . . If our council was honest they'd just give her the job right away, dispense with the hypocritical formalities and confirm that racially-charged politics has been the main driver of 12th & Oak decision-making since about 2020 and probably further back than that . . .  

Also . . . 

This report comes from some of our research but it was actually NextPageKC owner Eric Wesson who spelled out this scenario clearly in his last WIR appearance . . . But, sadly, his words and work didn't garner the attention they deserve . . . Even for critics of his politics, there's no denying he knows A LOT about where East side council members stand.

Moving forward from our vantage . . .

One way or another the city manger issue will determine the course of the next mayoral election and might even encourage all of those lazy Northlanders to get off their duff and vote. 

Either way . . .

This tactic of playing for time is exceptionally cynical, lazy and kinda corrupt but here at www.TonysKansasCity.com we really doubt anybody in local media or in the biz community will call it out and demand better of our elected officials. 

Instead . . .

We expect most to politely ignore the sketchy leverage used in this unfortunate situation that will ultimately contribute to costing taxpayers big bucks, valuable time and the confidence of the electorate.
