Kansas Republican Legislature YOLO?!?

Credit where it's due . . . This progressive screed is dumb but we admire their efforts to co-opt slang from the early 2000s . . . Check-it:

Kansas GOP legislators, overflowing with ambition but constrained by a shortened schedule, have decided to throw caution to the wind.

“You only live once,” they seem to cry as they drive the state over a cliff of fiscal and moral irresponsibility. “Let’s be legends!”

Let’s just consider a partial list of what lawmakers hope to accomplish. They’ve already banned gender-affirming care for kids. The Senate has cleared the way for a constitutional amendment that would change the selection process for electing state Supreme Court judges — with the goal of banning abortion. They’ve reneged on special education funding promises. They’re trying to eliminate a three-day grace period for counting mail-in ballots (why?).

Meanwhile, both chambers have wrangled over proposals to tackle property taxes and appraisals and are planning a mammoth budget package.

Do most members in either chamber really know what’s going on? Do most even care? Or are they determined to legislate first and ask questions later?
