Kansas City Homicide Count Hits 36 After Late Night Killing

This report went out Monday night after a double homicide and an exceptionally violent evening.

Here are the basics . . . 

Homicide 3000 block of Mersington

Tonight just after 11pm officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Mersington on a medical call with EMS.

On arrival they located an adult male unresponsive in the street with unknown significant injuries.

EMS treated the victim but ultimately declared him deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives have responded for investigation and are canvassing for any additional witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence to give detectives  better idea of what led up to the incident.

Based on preliminary information from people who were at the scene when officers arrived the victim had an interaction with unknown subject(s) nearby that led to him being injured.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
