Kansas City Demands 'Dog-Friendly' Green Space For Country Club Plaza Subsidy

It's way more important to be kind to rich dogs than work to craft affordable housing.

A four-person commission quorum on Wednesday recommended in favor of what recent filings have called the Lewer Plaza Apartments, with several conditions. For one, EPC is to work with city staff to "improve the dog-friendly nature" of its 278-apartment complex, "specifically as it pertains to green space for dogs to relieve themselves."

Although planners did not mandate more spaces in EPC's proposed 296-space garage, they conditioned their vote on a "good-faith effort" to reduce neighborhood parking effects and on the Overland Park developer asking the Public Works department to review surrounding curb management.
