Mainstream news is downplaying one of the greatest policy blunders in Kansas City history.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY MAYOR & COUNCIL THREATEN TO CUT FREEBIE BUS RIDES TODAY OVER THE PROTESTATIONS OF ACTIVISTS!!!

But consider . . .

DON'T FORGET THE FREEBIE CRACKDOWN COMES FROM MANY OF THE POLITICOS WHO ENACTED THE UNSUSTAINABLE POLICY!!!

Translation . . .

Neither Mayor Q nor Council dude Bunch deserve a lot of credit here because they created this crisis and helped to weaken the KCATA.

Accordingly . . .

We almost . . . ALMOST . . . Feel sorry for activists because they're so clueless that they don't understand most of the moving parts of Kansas City transit corruption that funds so many development schemes and political patronage.

UPDATE: Tomorrow’s committee meeting to discuss the city’s proposed plan for transit has been moved up to 9:30 am!!

Feeling unprecedented public pressure from young people with Sunrise Movement KC and workers with @atucomms & @standupkc to fix a transit crisis of their own making, Mayor Q and Council claim to have a deal to fully fund our buses. And now they’re moving meeting times around at the last second.

The funding plan they’re considering will:

⏳ Provide a 6-month temporary funding solution with no clear plan for service beyond October 2025.
💸 End universal Zero Fare and create the most expensive fare system in city history.
🤕 Lay off 100+ IRIS drivers with NO severance or eligibility for benefits due to illegal independent contractor classification
🚍 Give no guaranteed protections for ATU workers

If leaders refuse long-term investment in buses, young working class people in KC will lose our jobs and futures. Show up and fight for the future of your city.
