Kansas City 2025 Homicide #30: Man Gunned Down Overnight

Here's the latest report from KCPD and a homicide count that continues to outpace last year's numbers.

The basics . . . 

Homicide 4000 blk of N Bennington

Last night, just after 10:00 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of North Bennington on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival officers were directed to an apartment building. They located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began performing life saving measures and emergency medical personnel were summoned to the scene.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. Just after 11:30 PM the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

This is being investigated as a homicide. There is no one in custody at this point.  Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting. Detectives are canvassing the area for any witnesses and crime scene personnel are processing the scene for all available physical evidence.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
