A trend we really need to stop before the Summer . . . This is likely the 8th deadly domestic violence report so far this year . . . Here's the news the KCPD is sharing with the media early this morning:
Homicide 600 block of E Minor Dr.
Tonight about 11:30 pm officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 600 block of E Minor Dr. on a disturbance call.
On arrival officers were directed to an apartment unit where they located two adult females inside with unknown injuries. One of the females was alert and talking with what appeared to be minor injuries and another female was unresponsive with significant injuries.
Based on preliminary information obtained by the initial responding officers, additional responding officers were able to locate an adult male subject of interest and take him into custody, for further investigation, a short distance away within the apartment complex.
Initial officers rendered aid to the injured victims and called for EMS. EMS responded and transported both the victims to the hospital for treatment. The female victim with significant injuries was declared deceased at the hospital. The second female is being treated for what is believed to be non life threatening injuries.
Based on preliminary information it is believed the male subject of interest is known to the injured females.
Detectives are not searching for any additional suspects in this incident.
Homicide detectives are canvassing the area around the apartment for any witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for any evidence.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
