Insider: Kansas City Building Downtown Stadium For Lawyers?!?

As the end of the Missouri session approaches we notice that there has been a great deal of talk, promotion, advocacy and hype regarding the future of the Kansas City Royals but not much in the way of confirmed plans or legislation.

Accordingly . . .

Here's a TOP ECHELON Kansas City insider perspective sent our way that's worth sharing . . .

"TKC, Downtown Council pushing for the Washington Square Park is typical but overlooks the consequence of that decision. Whereas the K remains a great and affordable place for families. If the Royals move downtown, the new fanbase for the home team will be lawyers.

"Washington Square Park rests in between some of the biggest law firms in the entire Kansas City metro . . . Hush Blackwell is right across the street, Shook, Hardy Bacon is a couple of blocks to the South and, HECK, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association is only a two minute walk away.

"It's kind of obvious what they're doing . . . They're taking Royals baseball away from families and building the new stadium in the middle of KC's viper pit of corporate lawyers."

That's harsh but a quick search of Google maps confirms the assertion . . .

MORE THAN A DOZEN LAW FIRMS SURROUND THE FUTURE SITE OF KANSAS CITY'S DOWNTOWN ROYALS STADIUM AT WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK!!!

Even the dudes who buy all that Internets commercial time with their fake podcast reside across the street from the coveted Kansas City park.

Moreover . . .

There's legit concern that higher prices for parking, admission and concessions at a smaller downtown stadium will create an atmosphere wherein only corporate lawyers can afford to attend a ball game.

Sadly, the transition in fandom might be a fact of life and a consequences of worsening American inflation but moving the Royals downtown threatens to facilitate a dramatic change in the local fanbase that might need to cater mostly to elites in order to survive.

Sadly, the close proximity of future plans to so many local legal eagles has escaped local media amid what might the last hope of keeping the Royals in Kansas City proper.
