Another Kansas City Country Club Plaza Shutdown Amid Spring Hope

Springtime weather have always provided a boost for Kansas City's most iconic entertainment district.

However, there still isn't much sign that fortunes are improving for this embattled district amid a new wave of social justice protest hitting a surrounding park and running through its streets.

Since 2020 The Plaza has suffered more than 40 shut downs, a major loan default, a change in ownership and high profile shooting incidents.

Credit to BEST & BRIGHTEST TKC READERS for sending us this quick foodie-centric report from former newspaper reporter Joyce Smith regarding another closure and possibly a long anticipated coming attraction . . .

"Hokibar Poke & Sushi BBQ has closed on the Country Club Plaza (100 Ward Parkway) just a little more than two years after opening. A partner said the lease was up. The long-empty Houston’s restaurant spot finally has some movement. A Grandview company has applied for a permit for interior demolition of the space at 4640 Wornall Road. Company officials couldn’t be reached for comment."
