Supporters argue that changing control of SLMPD would tackle challenges with crime, public safety and officer retention, while opponents see it as an unnecessary shift away from local governance.
“This bill is a vital step forward in making Missouri’s communities safer,” said Rep. Christ via a news release. “By increasing accountability, providing the resources law enforcement needs, and implementing tougher penalties for crime, we are taking proactive measures to protect Missouri families.
