Kansas City Police Investigate Deadly Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

2300 block of Monitor Pl- DEATH INVESTIGATION

Upon homicide detectives arriving on scene they were able to determine this incident is NOT a homicide and will not be investigated as such.

This will be a death investigation.

Officers were dispatched to the area on a reported shooting, where an adult male victim was located deceased in a vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was determined this would be a death investigation. Preliminary information indicates the victim was located suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

EMS did respond to the scene and pronounced the victim at that time.

Crime scene personnel and our investigators will remain on scene to collect any evidence and speak with anyone in the area with information.
