Kansas City Police Investigate After Victim Dies Following Multiple Gunshots

The local quotient of violence is growing worse . . . This is second local homicide in less than 24 hours and might be either number 22 or 23 . . . Sometimes local homicides are reclassified and the number always shifts back and forth . . . For now, here's the latest report send out to local media . . .

Victim had already been transported to an area hospital by private vehicle.

While speaking with bystanders, officers received word the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

As detectives investigated the shooting, they learned the incident may have occurred at a location other than the 3700 block of St. John — possibly Sunrise Drive and Cliff Drive Place.

Police said the victim, an adult male, was declared dead by hospital staff around 6 a.m.

No word on what led to the violence.
