Kansas City PBS Documentary 'Road Of Resistance' Reveals 71 Highway Is Racist

Sorry.

Did that one deserve a spoiler alert?!?

The producers revealed the "twist" in about the first 8 seconds of the movie so there's no apology necessary.

Also . . .

TKC must admit that the 20-something minute movie was far too CRINGE to watch all the way to its conclusion.

If anybody has the time . . .

DID THEY MENTION HOW MAMIE HUGHES HELPED CRAFT THE CURRENT 71 DESIGN THAT HAS KILLED DOZENS?!?!

Because TKC was in the room for so many of those discussions and NOBODY bothered to question what/how politicos or a senior citizen lady knew about highway engineering.

TKC was a youngster intern at the time so don't blame this blog for not stopping the disaster in the making.

But I digress . . .

Here's a nicer narrative from a place that our blog calls "The Highway Of Death" or at least the local version . . .

"Inspired by Richard Rothstein’s ‘The Color of Law,’ this film focuses on Kansas City’s Highway 71 project and reveals how the city’s urban renewal efforts displaced 10,000 families. Land of Opportunity: The Road of Resistance explores the impact of real estate and federal policies on urban communities."
