Kansas City Mayor Q Pledges Low-Key Resistance To MAGA

This weekend the New York Times included Mayor Q's perspective amongst a cadre of Democratic Party leaders answering voter frustrations about pushing back against controversial moves of the Trump White House.

Accordingly . . .

RATHER THAN CHALLENGE LEGISLATION OR SHARE ANY CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENTS, MAYOR Q SEEMS TO PROMISE TO PLAY REPORTER AMID MAGA & DOGE CUTS!!!

That's nice . . .

The move is safe and it won't change the mind of his critics but it's also not gonna inspire any new followers.

In every possible way . . . Mayor Q has chosen the path of least resistance.

To be fair . . .

Stuck in the red state heartland . . . This is about the only semblance of "resistance" he can offer without becoming even more of a punching bag for the GOP super-majority in Jeff City. Already Kansas City Mayor Q has lost so many legal battles where resistance to police funding and housing rules have caused him public humiliation and questions about his basic understanding of municipal codes.

Meanwhile, so many strident progressive activists have called out Mayor Q for his MAGA submission.

And so, with the link embedded in blue text, we share the mayor's message via social media this morning . . .

To cut through the flood of executive actions, I’ll keep planning to share with anyone who will listen the who and the what are being affected by dramatic changes being thrown on American communities each day:

-the organization helping young mothers get healthy food off Prospect;
-the Kansas City workers losing their livelihoods.

Unlike some in the New York Times  piece here, I’m less concerned about Washington messaging, and more interested in how we ensure folks know the real world impacts of Elon’s crusade in places I’ve lived like Kansas City and Hutchinson. I proudly have a non-partisan job, but never one that abandons standing up for the people I serve.

Here's a screencap of his quote from the NYT . . .
