For now, here's a worthwhile perspective and more info on the blizzard that wasn't . . .
Public works director Michael Shaw said crews pretreated the roads on Monday and began pushing snow Wednesday.
While it wasn’t as much snow as some expected, Shaw pointed out that every storm can come with challenges.
“Every storm is different, so what may seem easy may not always be easy,” he said. “Fortunately, we don’t have the ice issues that we had in the previous storm. But if we don’t get the salt and all that stuff really activated here, it could become slushy and icy with the snow that is down here today. So the push in the next 24 hours is going to be critical to our long-term success.”
As crews still work to clean up streets, Shaw said they are monitoring the cold blast coming Thursday and potential for refreezing and black ice. They will continue to salt in the hope of avoiding dangerously slick conditions.
