Kansas City 2025 Homicide Count Hits 21 After Monday Night Gun Fights

This has been ad exceptionally violent evening for our cowtown as we've recorded three homicides in less than 24 hours in addition to a deadly self-inflicted gunshot victim.

Tragically, this Winter of discontent is taking a toll on the local citizenry at the local homicide count has not hit a pace much quicker than last year and four years prior to that . . .

We'll start with the South Side gunfire report . . . 

Homicide 8000 blk of Hickman Mills

This evening, at about 6:00 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of Hickman Mills on a reported medical nature unknown.

Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim in the parking lot of a nearby convenience store. The male was suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS was ordered to the scene and the victim was subsequently pronounced deceased.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the victim being shot. Investigators and crime scene personnel are canvassing the area for physical evidence, witnesses, and any available surveillance footage.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Here's the deadly Westport report from earlier in the evening:

Homicide 3400 blk of Wyoming 

This evening, just before 6:00 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Wyoming on a reported shooting.  Call notes stated there was a party down in a nearby parking lot.

Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began performing lifesaving measures and ordered emergency medical personnel to the scene. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary information revealed there was an altercation in the parking lot between multiple individuals before shots were fired. Detectives are trying to determine what led up to the incident. Investigators are canvassing the area to locate possible witnesses. Crime scene personnel are gathering physical evidence and collecting any available surveillance footage.
