
Here's the aftermath from a crime scene earlier today as this year's homicide count continues to run ahead of last year's numbers at a significant pace.

Homicide 56th and Woodland
This morning, around 11:30 AM, patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 56th and Woodland on a vehicle accident. While in route the call was upgraded to a shooting.
As officers arrived they located an adult male victim inside of a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began performing life saving measures and ordered EMS. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the victim being shot. Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood to locate any potential witnesses. Crime scene technicians are processing the scene for any available physical evidence.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
