Kansas City 2025 Budget Fight Begins

This discussion is always overblown and mostly ignored. 

The big fight here is bus funding BUT the dark money political lobbying group worked to blame shift that fight to the courthouse. They might gain a bit of credibility if the participate in the extremely boring process that TV news totally avoids.

Public meetings will be coming soon but those are mostly rigged and packed with insiders. 

Here's the overview for a process that ALMOST seems like Democracy but isn't at all . . . 

Kansas City on Thursday unveiled its largest budget ever, for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The Kansas City Police Department will once again get the largest portion.

The KCPD’s proposed $343 million budget comes from the city’s general fund, which is about a third of the city’s total budget and funds most of its departments.

In his annual State of the City address, Mayor Quinton Lucas said the city is in its “best fiscal position in its history.”
