And so the American dream of home ownership becomes a myth for most Americans as prices spiral out of control and only boomers who bought back in the 90s can afford anything but a sketchy apartment.

"County leaders said they must appraise homes within 90-110% of sale prices in the county. This year, the average value of a home in the county was found to be $508,000. The average selling price of new and existing homes in 2024 was around $557,000."
