Hard Times Forces Kansas City To Surrender Pets

In this report . . . Local animal lovers lament that the bad economy is getting even worse as metro denizens and housing regs have inspired may residents to part ways with their furry friends.

Here's the word . . . 

“And it’s really hard for people to find placement for their dogs. People are struggling so much financially that they just can’t afford to buy groceries, let alone feed their dogs. So, the economic crisis that we’re in and the cost of living being so high, it’s causing a lot of people to feel that they don’t have a choice but to rehome their pet.”

KC PAWS now is asking for help from the community in the form of donations, volunteers and foster homes. Daniel Maki started volunteering with KC PAWS about a year ago, now he’s one of their employees.
