Kansas Rep Sharice Davids, a Democrat who represents the 3rd District in the U.S. House, said vexing tariffs on Mexico and Canada, two of the country’s biggest trading partners, would disrupt the U.S. economy. She said tariffs were contrary to the task of getting domestic inflation under control.

“Hardworking Kansas families are already feeling the squeeze, and now President Trump wants to impose tariffs that could raise their costs by thousands of dollars a year,” Davids said. “Instead of putting everyday people first, he’s enacting policies that benefit big corporations and special interests.”

Davids said she’d been working to addressing inflationary pressure on prices of prescription drugs, energy and grocery costs.

“I’ll keep working to ensure families, farmers and small businesses aren’t left paying the price for reckless economic policies,” she said.
