The Royals have said they will not play at Kauffman Stadium after their lease expires in 2031. Sherman said Saturday that the Royals have conversations "going on on both sides of the state line," informed by "a number of experts" in real estate, finance and lobbying, as well as stadium developments in cities such as Atlanta and Nashville. He did not address specific stadium sites, though multiple news outlets, including the Kansas City Business Journal, last year corroborated team evaluations of, at least, Washington Square Park in Kansas City and the former Sprint Corp. campus (now Aspiria) in Overland Park.
