Clay Chastain: Monorail Could Keep Chiefs & Royals In Kansas City Proper

As rumors swirl about an impending departure of BOTH teams . . . Kansas City's foremost petitioner proclaims that better transit options are key to holding on to this town's pro-sports traditions.

Here's the word . . .

Clay Chastain Press release: Petition Initiative's (proposed) Airport Monorail could keep Kansas from out dealing Missouri for the Royals & Chiefs.

Not Kansas-not anywhere else-could lure the Royals & Chiefs away from their historic homestead in KC if we offer them a new Monorail-oriented home at the (750-acre) Downtown Municipal Airport. KC's underused & under-purposed old Airport is right on the Monorail's route... KCI to the Northland, to Union Station, to the Plaza, to the KC Zoo. Since the rapid, quiet, smooth & elevated Monorail can carry up to 400-passengers per train set, it has the capacity to (conveniently) funnel fans into large sporting events. Not only would the Monorail increase accessibility, it would also reduce asphalt spread & traffic congestion. With 2-charming Stadiums shining below the "Shining City on the Hill", "Ole Man River" rollIng by & KC's gleaming Monorail gliding in & out, KC would have something no other competitor could match.

I'm not a big sports fan, but the Royals & Chiefs (possibly) abandoning their traditional home for new digs in Kansas would hurt Kansas City, (further) deflate public spirit & super charge strife already present between the two States.

Keep 'em here, keep 'em strong & keep 'em together (& winning) for KC. The key? Marry the Monorail to the 'River Stadium District'.
