We liberated this quote that explains SOME of the backstory on a really interesting challenge confronted by a local biz that's confronting not only a slew of competitors but also informants looking to challenge their every move . . . Here's a preview . . .
"In December, someone called the Kansas City Fire Department to complain that American Shaman had 2,000 gallons of dangerous, flammable material in the building. The fire department showed up along with city inspectors, but they didn’t find any flammable materials. The inspectors did find the code violations from the renovation project, and two weeks later the facility was shut down.
"The false complaint could have come from a lot of places, Vince Sanders, president and founder of Kansas City-based American Shaman said, but he suspects it originated from competitors and protestors wanting to shut down the company’s production and sale of products containing a chemical called 7-OH.
"People concerned about 7-OH led a two-day protest outside the Southwest Boulevard facility in September. The chemical is derived from the Kratom plant, which has leaves that have been consumed for centuries to manage pain."
