Remember . . .
More than 20 years ago city leaders convinced voters to build the downtown arena with no pro-team contracted to play.
The promised . . . "If you build it, they will come."
Even before the downfall of local media, a few reporters warned that the place would basically be doomed to hosting monster truck shows.
Instead . . .
The venue became a defacto concert hall for a few decent acts but mostly b-list bands.
And so . . .
We celebrate and share a moment from a recent gathering that confirms nearly forgotten contentions.

Monster Jam rolled through Kansas City for a hootin' and hollerin' weekend at the T-Mobile Center on Jan. 11 and 12. Kansas Citians came from around the metro to watch a few tons of heavy metal fly high and hit hard.
