Quick followup on the state of the industry . . . Just like KC proper . . . The STL Post-Dispatch no longer prints locally . . . They're doing a bit better because they're not contracting their work to Iowa.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch to no longer print papers in St. Louis

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has reached the end of an era. Monday's edition marked the last one printed locally, as the Maryland Heights printing press closed after 146 years of operation. The closure impacts 48 full-time and 24 part-time employees, who must now retire or seek new jobs.


St. Louis Post-Dispatch to stop printing locally, lay off 72 press employees

The daily newspaper will be printed by a press in Columbia owned by a rival newspaper company. The move is the latest in a series of cost-saving measures that included newsroom layoffs last month.
