A bold statement from a Kansas City urban business leader garnered national news coverage and deserves even more attention.
Real talk . . . An NBC Nightly news segment was REALLY GOOD but it was buried in the final section of the broadcast. We were waiting for NBC to post the clip to Youtube but they have stalled.
Credit to the most loyal TKC readers for keeping us in the loop and offering their take that we want to highlight . . .
"Lester Holt seems to try and legitimize the terrible governance of Jackson County. They failed to mention how awful Frank White and Gail McCann Beatty are… Almost (hopefully) criminally incompetent.
"I feel for Ruby Jean's. KC businesses cannot be subject to Biden-level competence any longer. The owner said he wasn’t paying the $60k tax bill. Good for him. I’m driving there tomorrow to support him.
"Lester Holt had the opportunity and duty share the truth. He failed. It’s why there is no trust in the media."
Now . . .
Whilst our readers might (deservedly) fight fault with the report, we'd like to highlight this fact of life:
JACKSON COUNTY TAXPAYER PUSH BACK IS NOW MAKING NATIONWIDE NEWS!!!
Big picture . . . This is a positive sign for tax fighters and a sign that local frustration with the current administration is reaching a crescendo.
Accordingly . . .
We want to share the report that didn't quite hit the mark with local audiences but might deserve a second look . . . Check the description . . .
In Kansas City, Missouri, Troost Avenue was long seen as a racial and economic dividing line. For years, a transformation has been underway, but as property values go up, one business owner who helped bring change to the community now may be priced out. NBC News’ Antonia Hylton reports in our series “The Cost of Living.”
