NOT GUILTY Verdict In Deadly KCMO Homeless Camp Machete Fight

This is probably the most important story we're gonna blog today but we have to tread carefully because the dude will be back out on local streets very soon.

First, let's start with context about the reality of this situation . . . Here's a line from the first report on this fatality that deserves attention . .  .

"Witnesses told police that SUSPECT was hacking the victim with a type of sword or machete."

Now . . . A bit of context that most readers and local news watchers don't know . . .

Machetes are the weapon of choice in Kansas City homeless camps. In fact, during pandemic protests and camp outs . . . There was a "machete man" who threatened activists

Sadly, and because even my great-grandma used this tech to chop away at weeds .  . . Machetes are commonplace on local streets and so many scamps at the absolute bottom of the cowtown pecking order are armed with this perfectly legal gardening tool.

And so . . .

We merely serve to highlight the result of a recent legal proceeding and testament to cruel reality of poverty in KCMO . . . Check-it:

"According to court records, just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, Kansas City police officers responded to a homeless encampment on East First Street, where they found the 59-year-old victim, James Perry, with slashes to his arms, legs and head.

"He was declared dead by emergency responders. Two days prior, emergency personnel had responded to the same location and provided treatment to SUSPECT, who was experiencing hallucinations and an injury."
