The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office noted on Monday this was the first death by dog mauling in Kansas City history and released the following statement.

“The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and the Kansas City Police Department are working closely on the investigation of the tragic death that occurred on November 2, 2024, involving a fatal dog attack. It was the first death by dog mauling in Kansas City history and is a rare category of cases, with fewer than 20 such incidents occurring annually across the nation.”
“Given the unique and complex nature of the case, police and prosecutors are committed to ensuring that all investigative leads are thoroughly vetted and all evidence is gathered.”
“We will continue working collaboratively on a thorough investigation to support future prosecution and ensure justice is served.”
