More Deets On Narcan Dispensers Now Available At Raytown Fire Stations

There has been a dip in American ODs over the past year and part of that reason might be efforts like this one that gives up on moralizing and, instead, focuses on treatment and harm reduction strategies.

Needle-exchanges might never go over in the Midwest but access to life saving medication for free seems to be acceptable to locals in an effort to curb an epidemic of opioid deaths.

“What it has inside of it is Narcan, or Naloxone, plus fentanyl test strips and then a lot of information about how to use Narcan, how to use test strips and then some connections to recovery resources," said Seth Middleton, JCPH's program coordinator.

The dispensers are available at three Raytown fire stations. Middleton said this is the only 24/7 accessible and anonymous way for residents in eastern Jackson County to get Narcan.
