MAGA Cuts Threaten Downtown Kansas City Real Estate Disaster?!?

At the very least . . .

A crackdown on federal employees, a call for mass resignations/buyouts and even more cuts coming in the future has sparked "concern" for advocates inside our cowtown loop . . .

And, for those who have forgotten, one more reminder that . . .

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS THE LARGEST EMPLOYER IN THE KANSAS CITY METRO!!!

Yes, that includes JoCo and all those cute suburbs where middle-class white people hide.

Translation . . . For anyone residing in the cowtown metro . . . There's no escaping the economic impact (good or bad) of MAGA efforts to purge trim the federal workforce.

Check-it:

"The General Services Administration leases roughly 4.3 million square feet in 78 properties on both sides of the state line, according to a recent analysis by commercial real estate data firm Trepp. That's the GSA's fourth-largest office portfolio nationwide based on square feet. The federal government is Kansas City's largest employer.

"Federal leases cover about 5.81% of all KC-area office space and account for about $98.9 million in annual rent, according to Trepp."
