Every year Kansas City denizens "rediscover" this tech that's actually nearly two decades old.
A bit of backstory that most residents might not remember . . .
The Kansas City snow map debuted during the Funkhouser administration and, at the time, the GPS info shared with the public was a welcomed bit of tech that offered residents a view into Public Works.
However . . .
Here's what most locals don't know . . .
At a certain point the data doesn't match up with what people see on local streets.
To be fair . . . We've noticed snow plow & salt truck drivers working their tail off in the past 24 hours.
However . . .
Everybody has a limit.
Accordingly . . .
As the week drags on . . . Look closely on local streets and notice that many plow drivers cruise around with their snow removal equipment UP in order to log miles with no real result on messy roads.
Again . . .
We're not casting any hateration on this tactic . . . Merely noting that "the science" and local data maps don't always reflect reality.

The city prioritizes plowing differently for main roads (arterial streets) and side streets, so that roads with the most traffic get the most treatment KC City Manager Brian Platt said their team is taking an all-hands-on-deck approach across all city departments to this weekend’s massive snowfall that will end when “every street and every neighborhood is clear.”
