Kansas City Moves Closer To 'Zero Fare' FAIL

Over the past couple of weeks our www.TonysKansasCity.com readers have been debating the future of local transit amid activist & union outcry.

Now, we wanted to share inside work and a peek at the very near future.

A fact of life . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS UNDERSTAND THAT THE ERA OF "ZERO FARE" IS NEALRY FINISHED AS THE TRANSIT AUTHORITY STRUGGLES TO FIND CASH!!!

A quick conversation on the topic offered a perspective and a bit of history . . .

"Zero fare was nothing but a promotional gimmick for Mayor Q to boost his national profile and to quiet criticism of the free streetcar. But now the money is gone and there's simply no way to sustain it. Also, the gimmick didn't work out for the Mayor either after the Harris defeat."

Now . . . We notice rising debate over cuts and even the most progressive local sources acknowledge the impending cash crisis . . . Check the newspaper quote on economic trouble . . .

"No cutbacks or layoff plans have been announced. But the KCATA might have to contemplate deep reductions in the coming months, as the revenue coming in now won’t cover future expenses without some kind of boost."

Developing . . .
