Our blog community has been making A LOT of noise about local homicides but we didn't get the latest police report on the latest shooting incident. That's okay, there are plenty of ways that we follow along.
UPDATE . . . Police just sent all media the report on the shooting noting investigation about the location of the shooting and some behind the scenes server issue . . . And EVERYONE understands they are doing a very TOUGH JOB in ROUGH circumstances both weather and otherwise. FURTHERMORE, we also note that KCPD didn't get much of a break over recent holidays given the uptick in local deadly gunfire.
Right now we wanted to share the deets from KCMO homicide #6 for 2025 . . .

Homicide 7400 Blk of North Lewis
This morning, just after midnight, officers were dispatched to North Kansas City Hospital on a reported shooting. A male shooting victim was brought to the hospital by private vehicle.
Hospital staff advised the responding officers that the victim died of their injuries shortly after arriving. Preliminary investigation revealed the incident occurred in the 7400 blk of North Lewis in Kansas City, MO.
This is being investigated as a homicide. There was an altercation between two individuals that resulted in the victim being shot. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to the interaction. Investigators and crime scene personnel are canvassing the 7400 block of North Lewis for witnesses and any available physical evidence.
If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
