Only people who REALLY know Kansas City proper are having this debate but arguments over fine-dining are ACTUALLY a cowtown remnant of a more civilized age . . . And so we indulge and ask . . .
IS THE EAST BROOKSIDE FANCY RESTAURANT SCENE ENDANGERING CUSTOMERS & WORKERS?!?
Caveat . . .
We will stipulate the restaurateurs start out with the very best of intentions which seek to protect and diligently serve their patrons.
However . . .
In the midst of a worsening KCMO crime wave . . . We understand how lower rents and opportunity in East Brookside would inspire upstart restaurants to take a chance on locations near rougher parts of Troost.
If anything . . . We hope this mere question inspires locals to take discussions about security more seriously and budget for more protections . . . In fact, upscale venues are probably the only places that can afford to boost security whilst chicken shacks nearby are forced to rely on bulletproof glass and staying locked up away from threats.
Example to prove this topic has real life implications beyond appetizers . . .
Brady & Fox was a delightful place in this vicinity until constant car break-ins and then tragedy befell the owner.
Again . . . We're merely serving food for thought.
For balance . . . We offer a more optimistic few of what seems like a savory new place and its fare . . .
"The bistro will have such entrees as seared trout, oxtails, slow-braised pork shanks, seven vegetable couscous and burgers. The menu also will include charcuterie and tartines (such as smoked duck with dark cherries, basil and feta) along with hummus, chile crunch spare ribs, and mussels, soup and salads."
